I have been meaning to write to you ever since we got home but unfortunately it was straight back to work and preparing for the crazy Christmas rush.  Thank you so much for your, and Ron's hospitality when we were in New Zealand recently. We loved staying at the Purple Chickens and seeing your beautiful town and hearing about life there.  Ron was so good to us that afternoon and we saw so much more than we would have done if we had toured around by ourselves.
 
We just loved the North Island and will definitely be back again to see all those things we did not see including the Bay of Islands and another visit to Whakatane!

Hi Bev, 

After returning to Germany, Kerstin and I would like to say "thank you" for the wonderful stay in Whakatane and your great hints about Moko and White Island. Take a look at the picture of us on White Island with the gas masks :) On our drive to Auckland, we ate your delicious cake that you put into our room (the square one). Actually, Kerstin would like to know the recipe of that cake because we liked it so much :) Would you mind to share it? Oh, by the way, the snow is finally gone in Germany and we enjoy some warm spring sunrays (but warm is only around 15 degrees.... brrr for Whakatane people :)
